Lopo Plus combines Losartan, an angiotensin II receptor blocker (ARB), and Hydrochlorothiazide, a thiazide diuretic, to provide effective blood pressure control.
Losartan blocks the action of angiotensin II — a substance that tightens blood vessels and triggers aldosterone secretion. By preventing this, Losartan relaxes blood vessels and lowers blood pressure without affecting other hormone receptors or ion channels.
Hydrochlorothiazide increases the excretion of sodium and chloride, leading to reduced fluid volume and lower blood pressure. It also helps counter fluid retention.
Together, these agents deliver dual protection—relaxing blood vessels and reducing fluid overload for better cardiovascular outcomes.
Hypertension: Start with one tablet of 50/12.5 mg once daily.
If blood pressure remains uncontrolled, the dose may be increased to 100/25 mg once daily.
For left ventricular hypertrophy, start with 50/12.5 mg and increase as needed to 100/25 mg.
Elderly: No initial dose adjustment required; start low and titrate cautiously.
Severe Hypertension: Begin with 50/12.5 mg once daily; after 2–4 weeks, the dose may be increased to 100/25 mg once daily if needed.
💊 Can be taken with or without food.
Generally mild and transient:
Avoid using with potassium supplements or potassium-sparing diuretics (e.g., spironolactone).
NSAIDs (like Indomethacin) may reduce antihypertensive effects.
Hydrochlorothiazide may enhance the effects of alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotics, causing postural hypotension.
May alter blood glucose; dose adjustments of antidiabetic drugs may be required.
Hypersensitivity to Losartan, Hydrochlorothiazide, or other sulfonamide-derived drugs.
Anuria (failure to produce urine).
Symptoms may include hypotension, tachycardia, dehydration, or electrolyte imbalance.
Provide supportive and symptomatic treatment. Losartan is not dialyzable.
Monitor serum electrolytes periodically.
Use cautiously in patients with renal or hepatic impairment.
Discontinue immediately if angioedema occurs.
Observe for hypotension in volume-depleted patients.
Store below 30°C, away from heat and moisture.
Keep out of the reach of children.
